The Golden Russet is intensely sweet apple flavor, perfect for making juice and cider. It’s also known for its golden skin with a slightly rusty coat, which can sometimes appear bronze. It also stores very well. This is Harrison's favorite apple.

Grown at 1913 Kickapoo Orchard in Gays Mills, Wisconsin, the Golden Russet is a beloved heirloom variety prized for its dense texture, honeyed flavor, and high sugar content. Often called the “champagne apple” for cider makers, it produces rich, complex juice with deep caramel notes.

Its distinctive russeted skin gives it old-world charm, while its sweet, firm flesh makes it just as enjoyable for fresh eating or drying. A true piece of Wisconsin’s apple-growing heritage, the Golden Russet remains a favorite among orchard visitors and cider enthusiasts alike.
